New Agri-Food Immigration Pilot

July 12, 2019 – Mississauga – Canada is committed to attracting the best talent from around the world to fill skill shortages, drive local economies, and create and support middle-class jobs in communities across the country that will benefit all Canadians.

Agri-Food Immigration Pilot

The Agri-Food Immigration Pilot will test a new, industry-specific approach to help address the labour needs of the Canadian agri-food sector, particularly in meat processing and mushroom production.

Association for New Canadians to receive funding to improve the lives of newcomers as they settle into their new communities

Canada is supporting the Association for New Canadians to help newcomers better integrate into the community by improving employment services.

Vernon selected to participate in Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot

Canada and Luxembourg Sign New Youth Mobility Arrangement

The Honourable Chrystia Freeland, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Jean Asselborn, Luxembourg’s Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, today signed a new bilateral Youth Mobility Arrangement between Canada and Luxembourg.

Canada supports Francophone minority communities

July 3, 2019 – Dieppe, N.B. – Canada is supporting 7 organizations across the country to provide official language training services for French-speaking newcomers choosing to settle in a Francophone minority community.

Organizations selected to deliver adapted language training

In November 2018, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) launched an expression of interest process to solicit proposals from organizations able to deliver French and English language training to newcomers who declare French as their language of preference and want to make a Francophone minority community their new home.

Happy Canada Day! Across the country today, people from all walks of life join in celebration of Canada’s birthday. This may be the second-largest country in the world, but our sense of community and attachment feels more like a neighbourhood. We certainly saw this last month, when the Toronto Raptors won the NBA championship, unifying people all across the country. We love our geography, but we don’t let the enormity of it keep us apart.

Government of Canada helps Ottawa ease shelter pressures

June 27, 2019 – Ottawa, ON – The Government of Canada is providing $10.1 million to help the City of Ottawa cover the costs incurred for temporary housing related to the influx of asylum claimants. This funding is in addition to the $7 million provided to the City of Ottawa in April 2019.
