October is Women’s History Month in Canada, a time to recognize the women who have helped shape our lives and our country. This month is particularly special for me as it gives me a chance to highlight the women who work in the fields of health and sciences in Canada, past and present.

Statement from the Minister of Health following the meeting with representatives of First Nations, Inuit and Métis national organizations

Toronto, ON – Today, I had the opportunity to meet again with representatives from the Assembly of First Nations, Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami, the Métis National Council and the provincial and territorial governments to discuss Indigenous health priorities and opportunities for collaboration.

That is why the Government of Canada is committed to working with First Nations and Inuit leaders, as well as provincial and territorial governments, to provide effective, sustainable and culturally appropriate mental wellness programs and services for First Nations and Inuit.

FPT Meeting Co-Chairs to Welcome New Citizens in Winnipeg as part of Citizenship Week 2016

In celebration of Citizenship Week (October 10-16), Federal-Provincial-Territorial Meeting Co-Chairs, the Honourable John McCallum, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship, and the Honourable Ian Wishart, Manitoba Minister of Education and Training and Minister responsible for Immigration, will attend a special citizenship ceremony at the Canadian Museum of Human Rights. They will be joined by Provincial-Territorial Ministers responsible for Immigration to welcome 20 new citizens.
