A number of temporary policy changes intended to support international students, learning institutions and other stakeholders in Canada’s education sector have been implemented since March 2020.
International students make immense cultural and social contributions to Canada, and generate more than $21 billion in economic activity. Since the onset of the pandemic, the Honourable Marco E. L. Mendicino, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship, has made a number of temporary policy changes to support and reassure international students and learning institutions.
Canadian families are as diverse as Canadians themselves, and everyone deserves the same rights and opportunities, no matter who they love or how they identify.

The Honourable Marco E. L. Mendicino, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship, today reaffirmed Canada’s ongoing commitment to exploring innovative solutions for refugees during the virtual Annual Tripartite Consultations on Resettlement (ATCR).
Ministers Mendicino, Champagne and Gould mark World Refugee Day “For generations, Canada has been a strong and unwavering voice of support for refugees. Our country is known around the world as a welcoming place for those fleeing conflict and persecution.
Today, Robert Oliphant, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Maria Ubach Font, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Principality of Andorra, signed a new bilateral Youth Mobility Arrangement between Canada and Andorra. This took place through a virtual signing ceremony.
